I'm honoured to be your Greens candidate for Ryan in the forthcoming 2013 election, and will be using my Facebook page to keep in touch. I've also changed the title of this blog to "The Ryan Independent" – more like a newspaper title than an independent candidate's page!

Others, such as overcoming indigenous disadvantage or Australia’s proper role in Afghanistan, have appeared minimally or not at all. An election hijacked by small-target [...]

The word “Labor” appears nowhere. Everything about the form looks “official” .. i.e. “neutral”. [...]

As a university student in the 1970′s I was given a slender volume written by the UC Berkely economic historian Carlo Cippolla, Economic History of World Population (1962). No other book has ever changed my view of the world so much. In laying out the story of human life through the Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions, [...]

Anyone who puts up their hand for election has a duty to state how they would vote on crucial legislation, and why. So in this final week of the ETS debate I’ll make my position absolutely clear, starting with its basis: 1. The only uncertainty about climate change is its exact extent and timing. Few [...]
